Though the Osgoode Medieval festival is a relatively small fair, it is still quite a fun endeavor. Located just out of Ottawa, in Osgoode, the SCA (society for cultural anachronism-- I believe that's what it stands for) delves further into the cultural aspects of medieval Europe. They hold proper jousts and weapons tournaments (nothing is faked), showcase a variety of tools and trades as well as offer a variety of activities as well as merchants booths.
This festival has normally been a weekend affair that is held annually in spring/summer. It is definitely worth planning around.
